Baby girl received in Ammathottil - The HinduPublished - August 05, 2026 01:24 am IST - ThiruvananthapuramA baby girl was received in the Ammathottil electronic cradle of the Kerala State Council for Child Welfare here on Tuesday.The girl is the 1000th infant to be received in the Ammathottil since it was founded on November 14, 2002.The five-day-old girl, weighing 2.57 kg, was received in the cradle at 3.35 a.m. on Tuesday morning. She was named Sahasra, council general secretary G.L. Arun Gopi said.He said work was on to set up high-tech Ammathottil cradles in Idukki, Kannur, and Wayanad districts. In most other districts, the cradles were set up near district or taluk hospitals in the district headquarters. In Idukki and Kannur, the Ammathottil cradles had to be removed as part of hospital development works.
