We paid our wedding photographer $200 — in 2002. And he was the father of a bridesmaid, just retired and looking to turn his hobby into a business. He had never photographed a wedding before and was trying to build a portfolio. And he left after the important dances and cake cutting, so about 3 hours total. That’s all he would let us pay him, and I still felt bad about it. $150 for an established photographer for an event that long is frankly insulting. I wouldn’t let my 17 year old do it with his iPhone for that price.
