Final Fantasy Tactics Gets New Game+ and Zodiac Compatibility

Wait 5 sec.

Square Enix shared an update for Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles that makes characters’ zodiac sign determine potential buffs and allows players to start a new game+ file. It also added a number of quality of life adjustments and additions, including new Enhanced Edition Korean and both Simplified and Traditional Chinese language support. The 1.5.0 patch is live on all platforms now. New game+ in this updated version of Final Fantasy Tactics is fairly self explanatory. If you already beat the game, you can start a new run with some of the things you already earned to make that playthrough a little less grindy. The confirmed elements to carry over are unit levels and item data. The Final Fantasy Tactics Zodiac Compatibility is a gameplay element that could help with strategy. Based on each character’s birthday, their zodiac sign will now be in their profile. If you check the Zodiac Compatibility section, you’ll see who they will and won’t get along with when fighting in combat. The example used is Ramza, who is a Capricorn. In the screenshot, it shows he has special compatibility with Cancers. People who are human will get 150% accuracy, damage dealt, and recovery done when fighting alongside him. However, if the unit isn’t human, then that goes negative and is at 75% of normal. He has bad compatibility with Aries and Libra units, giving them 75% damage dealt, recovery, and accuracy. However, he gets along well with Taurus and Virgo folks and gets a 125% buff to damage dealt, recovery, and accuracy as a result. Other adjustments are designed to help make things feel more comfortable. You can choose to remove all equipment at once from someone, for when you’re going over units and arranging parties. Locked job unlock requirements are more visible. The Settings section now has Maintain Auto-Proceed for scenes, Ability Incantations Guaranteed to always see ability dialogue, and Ability Cursor Memory to remember what your last choice in battle for a character was.  Here are screenshots showing all the additions.
