Reigning Horse of the Year Sovereignty (Into Mischief), G1 Dubai World Cup hero Magnitude (Not This Time), GI Pegasus World Cup victor White Abarrio (Race Day), and GI Pennsylvania Stakes winner Baeza (McKinzie) headline 17 nominations to what is shaping up to be a blockbuster summer event Saturday, June 27 in the GI Stephen Foster Stakes at Churchill Downs.One of seven stakes races set for that card, nominations for the 'Win and You're In' contest for the GI Breeders' Cup Classic also include the likes of Nysos (Nyquist), last seen putting on a sensational performance in the GI Met Mile; last year's G1 Dubai World Cup winner Hit Show (Candy Ride {Arg}); and GSW & GISP Coal Battle (Coal Front).For a full list of the nominations, please click here.The Big Guns Work Saturday MorningA pair of top contenders for the Stephen Foster were spotted working Saturday morning at Churchill Downs, namely Magnitude for trainer Steve Asmussen, and Hit Show, for trainer Brad Cox.The former worked a bullet five furlongs in :59.20 in company with stablemate SW American Promise (Justify), who shared the top spot for the fastest move of 50 that morning. Magnitude's sectionals were clocked in :11.80, :23.40, and :35 flat. He galloped out six furlongs in 1:11.60, and seven panels in 1:24.60, according to Churchill clocker John Nichols.Hit Show breezed four furlongs in :49.20 (103/184), and SW & MGSP Gould's Gold (Goldencents), also a nomination to the Foster, posted his own half-mile work in :47.80 (14/184).Currently based at America's summer playground, Baeza went through his paces at Saratoga for trainer Bill Mott. Breezing on the Oklahoma training track, he covered five furlongs in 1:02.85 (3/5) in company with GIII Ben Ali Stakes winner Stars and Stripes (Not This Time).White Abarrio, who also remains on track for the Foster, was clocked last Thursday putting in his latest prep at Gulfstream for the heralded 'Summer Showdown' at the end of the month.
