President Claudia Sheinbaum responded this Thursday to new threats from U.S. President Donald Trump and his Vice President, JD Vance, who reiterated the narrative that Mexico's Government does not sufficiently combat drug trafficking and insisted on statements about possible military actions on Mexican soil."President Trump has his way of communicating; we should not get caught up in every statement, but the people of Mexico know that we are working, which is what matters to me. The people of Mexico know that every day we give our mind, heart, soul, everything," the president stated during her regular press conference. After asserting that Trump "is not well informed," Sheinbaum reminded the president that "the Mexican State exists" and works through its institutions with officials such as Security Secretary Omar García Harfuch; Defense Secretary Ricardo Trevilla Trejo; and Navy Secretary Raymundo Pedro Morales Ángeles."I once told him: 'Mr. President, the people of Mexico are very brave, they are an extraordinary people, and they defend their sovereignty.' That has always been our position. We are not going to enter, we do not want to, nor should we enter into a personal debate," Sheinbaum added .In response to a question regarding Trump's statement about intensifying ground operations against drug trafficking, Sheinbaum replied that "it would be very good if they did it on their own territory; it is very important that they stop arms trafficking" .In addition to again ruling out the possibility of her Government authorizing the entry of foreign troops into Mexico, the president presented data on the country's fight against drug trafficking:"Here are the results: a 46% decrease in intentional homicides and more than a 70% decrease in fentanyl entering the United States by land, and a memorandum of understanding with U.S. authorities to work in a coordinated manner," she affirmed .
