A 47-year-old cyclist from Tarxien was hospitalised after being involved in a traffic accident with a truck in Żejtun this morning.Police were called to Triq id-Daħla ta’ San Tumas at around 10.15am following reports that their assistance was needed at the scene.Preliminary investigations found that the accident involved a bicycle ridden by the 47-year-old man and a DAF truck driven by an 82-year-old man from Mqabba.A medical team was dispatched to the scene and provided assistance to the cyclist before he was transported to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance.He was later certified as at risk of dying.Magistrate Monica Vella has been informed of the case and opened a magisterial inquiry.Police investigations are ongoing.•
