The US Open broadcasters also suggested Smith was ‘constantly emphasising’ the ‘fundamentals’ to his player. “This is not uncommon, they will go back and forth,” the commentators said. “They’ve known each other a really long time, so they can have some big-hitting conversations.” Smith, a PGA Hall of Fame member, has been Scheffler’s swing coach since the latter was seven years old.
