Another phase of the Bur il-Kbir Road Widening Project in Siġġiewi has been completed, with Infrastructure Malta confirming that around 600 square metres of the planned 850 square metres of widening works have now been carried out.Infrastructure, Planning and Employment Minister Jonathan Attard visited the site to mark the latest milestone in the project, which aims to improve road safety, reduce traffic congestion and strengthen connectivity in the area.The works carried out so far have included excavation, earthworks, the construction of retaining structures and preparations for the widened carriageway. Additional rubble walls are set to be built as part of the next phase.Attard said the project is expected to improve journey times, accessibility and safety for residents, businesses and road users travelling through the area.Infrastructure Malta officials also outlined the coordination of utility services and engineering measures being implemented throughout the project.As works continue, Bur il-Kbir Road will be closed to traffic on Saturday to allow contractors to relocate site barriers and begin works on the opposite side of the road.The project forms part of ongoing government investment in Malta’s road infrastructure network.Will the widening of Bur il-Kbir Road make a difference to traffic in the area?•
