A major milestone has been reached in Malta’s second interconnector project with the inauguration of the Nexans Electra, a state-of-the-art cable-laying vessel that will soon begin work between Malta and Sicily.Over the coming weeks, the vessel will be responsible for laying more than 100 kilometres of subsea interconnector cable, helping bring the ambitious energy project one step closer to reality.The second Malta-Sicily interconnector is expected to strengthen the islands’ energy infrastructure, improve security of supply and support Malta’s long-term energy transition goals.
