Former Tottenham full-back Kyle Walker has now explained who he believes Tottenham Hotspur should break the bank and sign this summer.Spurs Web has since relayed Fabrizio Romano’s comments that Tottenham Hotspur are among the sides expected to be busy during this summer transfer window.Of course, Spurs’ dealings so far do hint that it could be a summer of new additions, with the likes of Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Jan Paul van Hecke all having moved to north London. But the expectation is that there is more to come, with Tottenham now heavily linked with midfielders in the Premier League.Photo by Serena Taylor/Newcastle United via Getty ImagesKyle Walker urges Tottenham to sign Sandro TonaliThis week, Spurs Web reported that Spurs have entered the race to sign Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United. It is explained that Roberto De Zerbi is a big fan of the Newcastle United midfielder and that Tonali himself is keen on a move to Tottenham.Spurs would have to splash the cash to land the 26-year-old, who some report is valued at £100 million by Newcastle United. However, Sky Sports journalist Gianluca Di Marzio says Newcastle actually only want €85m (£74m) for Tonali, while Tottenham have already offered around €75m (£65m). Spurs and Newcastle are in club-to-club talks, as reported by David Ornstein.Paying £100 million for Tonali would mean Spurs smash their club record fee this summer, and former England defender Kyle Walker believes that is exactly the type of move they need.Speaking to talkSPORT, Walker explained why Tottenham should consider a major midfield investment and suggested that a player like Tonali could bring improvements in an area where Spurs have lacked.Asked who Spurs should splash the cash on, he said: “Maybe a Tonali or someone like that who can run the midfield a little bit better than what’s been orchestrated now.”Spurs midfield upgrade needed despite summer transfer businessSpurs Web have since compared Tonali’s numbers with the rest of Spurs’ midfielders, and the underlying numbers show that he would be a significant upgrade. However, while signing him would be a major statement, Tottenham could potentially smash their wage record even further, with the midfielder likely to demand significant wages.Speaking about Tottenham’s squad and the improvements needed, Walker told talkSPORT that the club have quality players but needs to find a way to perform better as a team.“It’s always hard for a load of signings to come into a team, but from (what we saw from Spurs at) the back end of last year, the only way is up,” Walker added.“I think they are signing good quality players and I hope for them and for the club that they do well.“I think that they’ve got a good team as it is. I just don’t think they’ve performed well as a team. When you look on paper, they’re very good.“But in forward areas, you look at James Maddison, Xavi Simons. Maybe Dominic Solanke, but you need a fit Solanke.“I think they’re quite well covered and on the bench as well.“But you don’t know what’s happening with Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and the signings that they’ve made from now on, hopefully they can do well.”READ MORE: How much Mateus Fernandes earns at West Ham and where he would rank at TottenhamThe post Kyle Walker names the midfield signing he wants to see Tottenham splash the cash on appeared first on Spurs Web.
