Tottenham Hotspur youngster Luka Vuskovic has spoken publicly about his future for the first time amid growing interest from Brighton and several other European clubs.Tottenham Hotspur have until the end of the World Cup to make a decision on Luka Vuskovic’s future, but the situation remains far from straightforward. The Croatian teenager is coming off a stellar loan spell in the Bundesliga that has attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs. While Spurs are understood to want Vuskovic to sign a new contract before heading out on loan again, that is not believed to be the player’s preferred option. The defender wants regular first-team football and would ideally like clarity over where he stands next season.Spurs Web previously revealed that Brighton have already seen two offers rejected for the 19-year-old, who is regarded as one of the most exciting young defenders in world football. The Seagulls have since returned with a third bid, although that latest proposal is also believed to be below Tottenham’s reported £60m valuation.Photo by Lampson Yip/Lampson Yip/Clicks ImagesTottenham’s Luka Vuskovic hints at what he wants next seasonVuskovic is currently away with Croatia at the FIFA World Cup in North America and recently featured in his nation’s opening 4-2 defeat to England. While the result was disappointing, the defender still played a big role in Croatia’s second goal. Ahead of Croatia’s Group L clash against Panama, Vuskovic was asked about the speculation surrounding his future and whether the growing attention was creating additional pressure.“I don’t think much about it. I have really good teammates in the national team and the club, and it’s a pleasure to play with all of them.“I’m focused on the World Cup at the moment, but my goal is to have a season at the club in which I’ll play, where they want me, and we will see what happens in the coming days or weeks”, Vuskovic said to the Americana show.Regular opportunities may be difficult to guaranteeEven if Cristian Romero and Radu Dragusin both depart this summer as expected, Vuskovic would still find himself competing against new signing Jan Paul van Hecke and Kevin Danso for minutes on the right side of defence.Van Hecke is expected to be a regular starter alongside Micky van de Ven, while Danso established himself as a dependable option whenever called upon last season. With Spurs not involved in European competition, opportunities could be even harder to come by.The Athletic have also suggested that Vuskovic may have concerns over his long-term pathway at Tottenham. The development of players such as Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall and Mathys Tel has been somewhat of a stop-start, and that could be another factor influencing the defender’s thinking as he weighs up his next move.READ MORE: ‘A reality check for him’ – Tottenham supporters split after Luka Vuskovic’s World Cup debutThe post ‘Where they want me’ – Luka Vuskovic finally breaks silence on Tottenham future appeared first on Spurs Web.
