A mass was held this morning at St John’s Co-Cathedral ahead of the official reopening of the Parliament.The ceremony was led by Auxiliary Bishop Joseph Galea-Curmi and attended by Prime Minister Robert Abela, Opposition Leader Alex Borg and Malta’s elected officials.The traditional service marks the beginning of the new parliamentary session and precedes the formal reopening of Parliament later today.Parliament is also set to elect a new Speaker and Deputy Speaker during today’s proceedings.The government has nominated Carmelo Abela for the role of Speaker, while the Nationalist Party has put forward former party leader Bernard Grech as its candidate.The vote is expected to be one of the first items on Parliament’s agenda as lawmakers return to the chamber following the summer recess.What issue should Parliament prioritise first?•
