And, according to developer and publisher IO Interactive, the game sold nearly 3 million copies in the first two weeks since its launch.It stars Dexter: Original Sin (2024) actor Patrick Gibson as a 26-year-old Bond who has yet to “earn the number.” Gibson stars alongside Priyanga Burford (M), Kiera Lester (Miss Moneypenny), Naomie Ackie (Miss Roth), Alastair Mackenzie (Q), Lennie James (John Greenway), Gemma Chan (Selina Tan), and Lenny Kravitz (Bawma).“Follow James Bond as a young, resourceful, and sometimes reckless recruit in MI6’s training program, and discover an origin story of the world’s most famous spy,” the synopsis reads.Credit: IO Interactive under license from Amazon MGM Studios, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Eon Productions007 First Light Has Been Treated Like a Bond MovieFor anyone thinking that 007 First Light is just a Bond game, though, it’s worth noting that it has been given the same care and attention as a Bond movie.Prior to its launch, Lana Del Rey’s official song for the game (“First Light”) was unveiled alongside an accompanying Bond title sequence. First Light even got its own red-carpet event in London, with the creative crew and cast present.The game even plays out much like a movie — it’s extremely narrative-driven and has all the same ingredients as one of the Bond films.Related: James Bond Undergoes Historic Changes After 64 Years Ahead of Amazon RebootA Sequel Is Now ExpectedNow, the game is expected to get a sequel. At Summer Game Fest, Jeff Gattis, General Manager of gaming at Amazon, said to IGN of the title’s success: “Seems like a sequel should be made.”Last year, IO Interactive boss Hakan Abrak told IGN that there were hopes for the game to launch a “big trilogy”, with a James Bond that can be “built from the ground up for gamers,” one they can “call their own and grow with” throughout the course of more entries within the series.He also said that the new 007 game series could grow alongside the next era of films from Amazon MGM Studios: “I just hope we’ll do a thing that will define James Bond in gaming for years to come,” adding, “And that is not only one game, but that we create a universe for gamers to own for many years to come that we can grow with that next to the Bond on the movies.”So, while we wait for news about Amazon MGM’s film reboot, it seems Gibson’s Bond won’t be going anywhere, and is likely to co-exist with whoever the studio casts as 007 on the big screen.Earlier this month, the studio confirmed that the hunt for the next 007 to lead the untitled film reboot had officially started, with casting director Nina Gold reportedly leading the search.Would you like a sequel to 007 First Light?
