The Member of Parliament (MP) for Akuapim North, Mr Samuel Awuku, has issued a rallying cry to the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, urging him to remain resolute and unfazed in the face of coordinated political machinations designed to derail his presidential ambitions. In a highly reflective and emotionally charged statement shared on his official Facebook page, Mr Awuku, who is widely known to be a close confidant and strategic advisor to the Vice President, noted that leadership struggles historically demand extraordinary endurance. He drew parallels to the political baptisms of fire endured by former President John Agyekum Kufuor and the immediate past President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.Acknowledging the immense political weight currently resting on the flagbearer’s shoulders, the Akuapim North lawmaker wrote:“To my dear flagbearer, friend, and senior brother Dr. Mahamudu Bawudu, some journeys are never smooth, and some roads are written in dust and rain. Yet history remembers those who kept walking when the ground was uncertain.”He further added:“The same spirit that carried J.A. Kufuor and Nana Akufo-Addo through seasons of trial is not absent from this path. You are no stranger to pressure. Your resolve has always spoken quietly but firmly. And as the path unfolds, know that there are those who remain in the margins of every storm, steady and unshaken, walking with you without noise but with conviction.”Speaking on the current internal and external political environment, the former National Organiser of the NPP indicated that the rank and file of the party are fully aware of the orchestrated distractions aimed squarely at diminishing the Vice President’s appeal ahead of the 2028 general election. He admonished Dr Bawumia to ignore the political noise, maintain his characteristic composure, and focus entirely on offering the NPP as the most credible administrative alternative for the Ghanaian electorate.“We have seen and heard all that is happening around, we know the target is Dr. Bawumia but he should remain calm and focus on the task ahead, that task is bigger and no amount of distractions will undermine that efforts.”Reaffirming his absolute confidence in the flagbearer’s electoral viability, Mr Awuku maintained that “the NPP stands a better chance of winning the 2028 general election with Dr. Bawumia.”The Akuapim North MP did not mince words when assessing the performance of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) under President John Dramani Mahama. He argued that the current administration had rapidly lost the moral authority to govern after failing to execute the very policies it used to capture power in the 2024 polls. He launched a direct assault on the government’s flagship economic programme, describing it as an elaborate political illusion that has done nothing to solve the severe unemployment crisis facing the youth.“The NDC promised heaven and earth in the 2024 elections, how many of these promises have they fulfilled, see this 24-Hour economy policy, it remains a scam. Look at unemployment in Ghana now, it has skyrocketed than before, this administration has failed woefully and will be voted out in 2028.”Concluding his intervention, the influential party strategist reminded all factions within the elephant family that internal bickering would only serve the interests of their political opponents. He emphasised that structural unity remains the only guaranteed vehicle to usher the party back into the corridors of state power.“The NPP is the only party we have, the only vehicle that we all ride, only unity can get us the victory we want in 2028, lets remain united and stand behind Dr. Bawumia for the goal ahead.”
