Israeli security officials say Hamas operatives in Turkey are playing a crucial role in transferring money and weapons to terrorists in Judea and Samaria, and have orchestrated dozens of attacks on Israeli targets over the past year.By World Israel News StaffThe Shin Bet security agency and the IDF said Sunday that Israeli security forces foiled dozens of attacks over the past year that were directed by Hamas operatives based in Turkey, accusing members of the terror group’s Judea and Samaria headquarters of using Turkish territory to recruit operatives, move funds and transfer weapons for attacks against Israeli targets.According to the security agencies, Hamas’s Judea and Samaria branch has for years been responsible for advancing and directing attacks against Israeli civilians and security forces in the area. The agencies said the branch’s activity from Turkey had intensified over the past year, with Hamas operatives working from Turkish territory to recruit Palestinians for attacks, transfer weapons and send money to operatives on the ground. The Shin Bet and IDF identified Zaher Jabarin as the current head of Hamas’s Judea and Samaria operations, and Ayman Abu Khalil as the head of its military wing. The agencies also named several Hamas operatives allegedly involved in the network.Ayman Sharawna, described as a Hamas operative in the Judea and Samaria branch, is said to have recruited operatives and advanced terror activity while operating from Turkey.Muhammad Mallah, originally from the Tulkarem area, allegedly helped transfer funds for terror activity and divides his time between Turkey and Qatar, according to the statement.Majed Jaaba is said to have helped smuggle the weapon used in the November 2023 attack at the Tunnels checkpoint near Jerusalem, the agencies said.Walid Abu Nassar was accused of financing a terror network in Bethlehem, while Salam Yaish allegedly recruited operatives to carry out attacks. The Shin Bet and IDF said the suspects operated under the framework of Hamas’s Judea and Samaria branch and that several investigations over the past year had implicated Hamas operatives residing in Turkey in efforts to advance military activity.According to the agencies, Hamas operatives in Turkey have been able to operate “undisturbed,” meet with operatives from Judea and Samaria and use local infrastructure to transfer instructions and funds. Those instructions and funds were then used by operatives on the ground to promote attacks and other military activity, the statement said. The security agencies said they viewed any connection to Hamas operatives and any involvement in the transfer of funds or weapons to terror infrastructure in Judea and Samaria “with great severity.”“The Shin Bet and IDF will continue to act with determination to thwart threats and ensure the security of the residents and State of Israel,” the agencies said. The post Turkey-based Hamas cell behind dozens of attacks on Israel over past year appeared first on World Israel News.
