Kalyan Karnataka Bhajan Melagala Samavesha to be held in Yadgir on June 23 - The HinduUpdated - June 19, 2026 08:27 pm IST - YadgirMeenakshi Bali | Photo Credit: File PhotoSaint Poet Kanakadasa and Tatvapadakarara Study Centre, Bengaluru, Yadgir District Kannada Sahitya Parishat, and Government Degree College, Yadgir, have jointly organised the Kalyan Karnataka Bhajan Melagala Samavesha at the Government Degree College in Yadgir on June 23, said Meenakshi Bali, coordinating member of the centre, adding that noted writer Siddaram Honkal will inaugurate the programme.Addressing a press conference in Yadgir on Friday, Dr. Bali said that the Kalyan Karnataka region has abundant literature in Tatavapada.The contribution from the Kalyan Karnataka region to Kannada literature, Champoo literature, Keertana, Puranas and other cultural activities has been immense.“In the 18th century, Ramapur Bakkappa, Kadakol Madiwalappa, Khainur Krishnappa, Chennur Jalalsab, Tegalabal Revappa, Kadlewad Siddappa, Kudalur Basavalingappa, Motnalli Hasansab, Mahagoan Meersab, Tintini Moneshwari and many others wrote Tatvapadas in the local and informal language which can be easily understood by the common people,” she said.Dr. Bali explained in detail why the Bhajana Melagala Samavesha is planned to be organised in Yadgir and said that the younger generation should know about the importance of carrying the Tadavapada to the next generation and study it to understand the pulp of the great literature.As many as eight teams of singing troops from various parts of the Kalyan Karnataka region would be singing during the event, not only to entertain the viewers but also to bring awareness among youths and to attract them towards the different varieties of Tatvapadas, Dr. Bali said.Appealing to the general public, more particularly youngsters, she said that everybody should attend the event, which is being organised for the first time in Yadgir.Siddappa Hotti, District president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Subhashchandra Koulagi, S.S.
