Nationalist Party leader Alex Borg has publicly expressed his support for Maltese diplomat Vanessa Frazier following a heated exchange with Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon. In a statement shared on social media, Borg said that regardless of who is right in a diplomatic disagreement, arguments should never descend into personal attacks or attempts to silence others.“Beyond the fact that Vanessa Frazier is Maltese like us and is carrying out her duties in the best possible way and in the best interests of the United Nations, an argument, especially a diplomatic one, must never, under any circumstances, degenerate into a personal attack in which someone tries to silence another person rather than win the argument through reason,” Borg wrote. The comments come after a tense exchange at the United Nations during which Danon told Frazier to “be quiet” after she attempted to raise a point of order.Danon raised his voice during the exchange, saying: “No, you be quiet, because I am speaking now,” while accusing UN officials of unfairly targeting Israel.Frazier recently presented a report that placed Israel’s military and security forces on a United Nations list for grave violations against Palestinian children.Borg said he wanted to offer his full support to the Maltese diplomat and encouraged her to continue carrying out her work without fear.“Therefore, I would like to express my full support for Vanessa Frazier and encourage her to continue carrying out her work fearlessly, for and in the best interests of humanity,” he wrote.Ending his message with a direct show of support, Borg added: “Aħna warajk.”What do you make of Alex Borg’s comments?•
