Rotten lettuce, expired unlabelled vegetables among violations found at Subway outlet in Hyderabad’s Kondapur area - The HinduPublished - June 16, 2026 10:17 pm IST - HYDERABADThe food safety team of Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) conducted inspection at a Subway outlet in Rajarajeshwar Nagar, Kondapur area of Hyderabad on Tuesday and found multiple hygiene violations. | Photo Credit: @CMC_Offcl on XRotten lettuce stored in the chiller, unlabelled cut vegetables exceeding their declared use-by dates, the presence of flies in the food preparation area and poor maintenance of washing facilities were among several food safety violations detected during an inspection at the Subway outlet in Rajarajeshwari Nagar, Kondapur, on Tuesday.The inspection was carried out by the food safety team of Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) as part of their ongoing food safety monitoring drive across Cyberabad.Officials found that incoming raw vegetables were not being properly checked at the time of procurement. Cut vegetables, including onions, tomatoes and lettuce, were stored without labels, with some items found beyond their declared use-by dates. Food waste was observed on the floor of the preparation area, while flies were noticed in the food preparation section.The inspection team also found that sink and washing areas were inadequately maintained. Medical fitness certificates of food handlers, food testing reports and water analysis reports were not available during the inspection. Food handlers were also found to have inadequate awareness of safe food handling practices.As part of immediate corrective action, rotten and unlabelled vegetables were discarded on the spot.
