Sometimes it feels like fate is determined to bring two people together. However, in the case of Missouri woman Rita Taylor (28), fate may have really put its finger on the scales for her and her husband. As People reports, Taylor shared that she was getting ready for a regular date night when the man who would become her husband walked into her mom’s living room and froze. He was staring at a homemade blanket draped over her nephew, apparently unable to process what he was seeing. What he said next confused everyone in the room: “Hey, where did you get my blanket?” Everyone assumed he was kidding, but as Taylor explained: “We all thought he was joking at first and then he started pointing at specific details about the blanket and explaining how his mom made it for him as a baby.” He also said he’d slept with every single night growing up. @bloomingwithrita1 Guess it was meant to be #sahm #motherhood #3under4 ♬ childhood – daniel.mp3 & Zamaro The blanket had been given away years ago by his family, and Taylor’s mom had bought it at a garage sale simply because she liked the look of it. Unbeknownst to her, it belonged to the man her daughter would marry. “We all thought he was joking” Her reaction to this unlikely scenario was “total disbelief” as she attempted to understand the odds of this happening. Taylor indicates she believes it’s a sign: “The moment I found out it was his childhood blanket, I knew there was no way it could be a coincidence. It was one of those moments that you don’t forget.” The couple is now married, has a son, and, you guessed it, this blanket is now his comfort blanket that he sleeps with every night. Taylor said, “Watching something that comforted my husband as a child now comfort our son feels like a full-circle moment. It’s a very special thing that our son now sleeps with this same blanket every night.” Taylor and her husband are both Catholic, and they say they sense divine intervention brought this blanket back into their lives. She says, “It’s hard not to see God’s hand in this story. The blanket feels like a reminder that our lives were connected before we ever met.” Whether God himself intervened in an unlikely series of garage sales or not is ultimately unknown, but based on the course of this heartwarming story, it seems this blanket is certainly back where it belongs. Maybe even in the place it was destined to be…
