Owner of security agency alleges abduction, robbery of ₹1.09 crore - The HinduPublished - June 17, 2026 10:56 pm ISTThe Madanayakanahalli Police have registered a case after a 41-year-old man alleged that he and his driver were abducted at knifepoint and robbed of ₹1.09 crore in cash by a gang of seven unidentified men on the outskirts of Bengaluru.According to the complaint filed by Shiva Shankar, a resident of Dasanapura Hobli and owner of a security agency, he had been involved in a business venture with associates from Andhra Pradesh, including individuals identified as Mohammed Pavlaj, Jipson and Aleem. The group was allegedly engaged in investment-related dealings through a companyIn his complaint, Shiva Shankar stated that he had received ₹35 lakh in cash from the Andhra Pradesh-based associates on June 13 and kept the money at his residence. Two days later, on June 15, he allegedly received another ₹74 lakh at a hotel in Yelahanka and was transporting the cash in his car along with his driver, Chethan.Around 11.05 p.m., while travelling off Kunigal Road in the Madanayakanahalli police limits, a bike and a car allegedly intercepted their vehicle. A gang of seven unidentified men armed with knives and beer bottles reportedly threatened the duo, forced them out of the car and abducted them.The complainant alleged that the gang confiscated their mobile phones, threatened them and demanded money. The accused allegedly forced him to contact his wife and instruct her to hand over the ₹35 lakh kept at home. The cash was subsequently collected by some members of the gang, he claimed.Shiva Shankar further alleged that the gang also made away with the ₹74 lakh that was in the car, taking the total amount robbed to ₹1.09 crore. The accused later abandoned the victims and fled from the scene.Based on the complaint, the Madanayakanahalli Police have registered a case under Sections 140(2) (kidnapping/abduction) and 310(2) (robbery) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
