Tottenham legend Darren Anderton has now issued a transfer warning to Roberto De Zerbi as Spurs embarks on a rebuild this summer.A run of two consecutive 17th-place finishes in the Premier League, with last season turning into a full-on relegation scrap, is expected to spark a reaction from Tottenham Hotspur.Spurs need to improve, and they must do so quickly if they are to get back to competing with the top sides in the English top flight.Of course, having Roberto De Zerbi as head coach, whose heroics ultimately kept them in the division last season, is a major positive. However, attention must now turn to squad building with the transfer window open.Credit: @thefrederikkejensen / InstagramSpurs icon tells Roberto De Zerbi Tottenham need six more signingsSpurs have moved quickly this summer, taking advantage of the free-agent market and securing two signings through the door. Both Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi have been confirmed as Tottenham players, while the club continue to be linked with other high-profile targets who would require significant investment.Spurs Web understands that Tottenham could spend more than they did last summer as they continue their rebuild. Former Spurs star Darren Anderton has now shared his verdict on how much work still needs to be done, warning Roberto De Zerbi that several major additions are required if the club are to avoid another disappointing campaign and push for a top-four finish. Speaking to SunSport, Anderton said when asked how many summer signings Tottenham need to return to the Champions League: “I think five or six. There’s a lot of deadwood in the squad.“Obviously Kudus missed a large chunk of last season, and hopefully he’ll come back like a new signing because he started well.“I was a little surprised when I was there that the crowd seemed frustrated with him. He kept checking back and recycling possession, but that’s what modern wingers tend to do now. Personally, I hate it as well, so I understand the frustration.“I’d love to see Kulusevski get fit and back playing. They’ve also been linked with Savinho, who I think is a really quality player, and that’s the kind of signing Tottenham fans want to see.“I also think they need another central midfielder, wherever that comes from. Overall, the squad needs a lot of work, but I do think De Zerbi can make it happen.”Tottenham face costly rebuild under Roberto De ZerbiIn the midfield department, Spurs Web has already reported on Tottenham’s interest in Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali, a move which could see the Lilywhites spend upwards of £85m.As for the deadwood Anderton referenced, Yves Bissouma has already been released alongside six youngsters, although further departures could still take place as the window progresses.Anderton also outlined the scale of investment he believes Tottenham require to return to the Champions League, suggesting the club may need to spend heavily despite already landing two experienced additions. He continued: “Tottenham need a £250m summer. But they have shown there are deals to be had too.“We’ve just got Senesi, who’s worth £70-80m, for next to nothing. I like Robertson as well.“I’ve said it openly before. The current players aren’t good enough, and that’s true of the majority of the squad. It needs a major rebuild.“We’ve got Senesi and Micky van de Ven, who I think are brilliant. I love Pedro Porro, although after this World Cup he might be difficult to keep hold of.“Get Kudus back fit, build around Archie Gray, but beyond that we still need a lot. We need a goalscorer. If Solanke comes back and has a great season, fantastic, but can you rely on that? I wouldn’t guarantee it.“Bissouma probably has to go, in my opinion, and there are a few others as well. I don’t think Richarlison is going to score 20 goals in a season.“If Tottenham want to get back into the Champions League, they need significant investment.”READ MORE: ‘Won’t be surprised if we win the Prem’ – Tottenham fans react to £85m Sandro Tonali linksThe post Tottenham legend tells Lewis Family exactly how much money they must spend this summer appeared first on Spurs Web.
