I think he was brilliant the other night,” Dykes told reporters.“Sometimes I think he gets a bit of stick here and there but he’s a true warrior, he defends the box brilliantly.“He’s a great character for all of us. I was lucky enough to play a season with him at Birmingham and he’s a brilliant guy so I think the other night especially he was up there and it was a brilliant performance.Dykes has adopted a new look ahead of his first ever World Cup appearance. The Charlton hitman has ditched his locks for a shaved head, something he says is an intentional pre-international tournament move.“Yes, it is to be honest,” he replied when asked if the shaved head was specifically for the tournament.Hanley delivered a heroic performance in Scotland’s World Cup openerGettyDykes has done away with his usual lookGettyThe Scotland striker now dons a skinhead but can he get his teammates to follow suit?Getty“I change my hair up every so often for something new. But with Scotland the shaved head has kind of stuck.“The boys like it when it’s shaved,” he laughed. “I don’t know what it is but they prefer the bald Dykes. I’m a bit more aggressive, maybe.”He continued: “I did it early doors because I wanted to get a bit of a tan on top of the head.“I’ll keep it short for this tournament and we’ll see what happens in the future.Dykes the trendsetter?Asked about the possibility of marking his first World Cup with a commemorative tattoo, Dykes said: “I haven’t got one yet but I’ll definitely get one. I need to get a few more boys involved actually“I’m sure I can get a few. Maybe get a couple of skinheads too, get the whole team with a skinhead and tattoo.”World Cup WhatsAppDon't miss an update from talkSPORT in our dedicated World Cup WhatsApp channel.Search for ‘talkSPORT World Cup’ in your ‘Updates’ tab on WhatsApp and we’ll drop the proper, unfiltered football chat straight to your lock screen—no fluff, just pure talkSPORT energy. It’s where you’ll find out all the new rules to watch out for, England and Scotland reaction and big match player ratings.
