Samsung smartphones have long been associated with an issue where permanent green or pink lines appear on the display when the device heats up, such as during the installation of a software update. Now, the issue appears to be affecting some Galaxy S23 users installing the One UI 8.5 update. Many Galaxy S23 owners have reported that green and pink lines appeared on the displays of their phones while installing the recently released One UI 8.5 (via Reddit, Samsung Community, X). Since it is believed to be a design and manufacturing issue, they are asking Samsung for help.Fortunately, when we updated our Galaxy S23 to One UI 8.5, its display didn't develop any green or pink lines, which was something we were concerned about. Unfortunately, not everyone has been as lucky.Since the issue is said to be caused by heat, which is a problem in hot and humid regions like India, keeping the phone in a cool environment during software update installation could help prevent it from occurring.Samsung hasn't provided a solution for the Galaxy S23 users affected by green/pink display lines due to One UI 8.5 yet. Hopefully, the company addresses the issue by replacing the displays free of charge or providing affected users with replacement devices. It is worth pointing out that Samsung was replacing the displays of the Galaxy S23 units affected by the green and pink lines till 25 December 2025. There's no information on whether the brand has extended the program further. You can reach out to Samsung for more help.
