Conquering the OPENING RANGEUS Tech 100 CashIG:NASDAQDegenprophetDays like today remind us that in the markets, anything is possible. As traders, our goal isn't to predict the wave—it's to wait patiently and ride it once it forms. We operate without bias. Let's get right into the setup. With today's FOMC event, we're likely in for heavy volatility as the market weighs rate cuts. We could see a tone that shakes things up, or Warsh might give the market exactly the reassurance it needs to keep booming. Because of this unpredictability, smaller accounts are best sidelined today. Unless your risk management is absolutely flawless, there is zero shame in sitting on your hands. However, if you enjoy trading the 9:30 AM opening range as much as I do, there could be some great opportunities. What I'm Watching: Timing is everything today. I'm letting the market show its hand first, but my primary focus is on a gap fill. Ideally, we see this gap close early so we don't have to worry about the market crashing down to close it later. Scenario A: We see a risk-off move prior to FOMC that closes the gap, followed by a relief rally. Scenario B: FOMC disappoints, and the resulting sell-off closes the gap. Scenario C: The gap never fills today, and acts as a launch pad upward. Execution Strategy: I’ll be reacting, not predicting. I’ve marked a few Points of Interest (POIs) to take profit. If you are stepping in today, I highly recommend using smaller lot sizes to avoid FOMC whiplash. Box out the 9:30–10:00 AM opening range. Wait for a clear breakout of that box on the 5-minute chart. Wait for the pullback and confirmation, then try to ride that wave to the next POI. Feel free to mimic my chart and drop any questions below! It might look a bit messy, but it highlights the specific zones I'm tracking. The opening range taps into the highest liquidity of the day, which can lead to violent moves—so trade safe. As always, this is NOT financial advice, simply my ideas. Feel free to observe this for yourself on your own charts. Have a great day, and thanks for reading. Appreciate you all! I wrote this up, but used AI to clean the grammar. Had to bust this out before 10 for this to have the magic of playing out live lol. Have a great one :)
