A team of local fishermen has landed the largest documented Wreckfish ever caught on a fishing rod in Maltese waters, setting a new national record in the process.The achievement was recently recognised by The Malta Records, which confirmed the fish weighed an impressive 50.8kg.Known locally as the Ħanżir tal-Fond, the Wreckfish is a deep-water species capable of reaching remarkable sizes and is considered one of the Mediterranean’s most prized catches among anglers.
