A total of 22 people were arrested overnight after being found living in Malta irregularly during a series of inspections carried out by the Police.The arrests were made during operations in Blata l-Bajda, Ħamrun and Marsa, with further searches carried out at a number of private residences in Marsa, Ħamrun, Fgura and Rabat.The inspections were conducted with the assistance of officials from the Detention Services Agency.Those arrested are currently being held in a detention centre while authorities complete the necessary procedures to relocate them to their country of origin or another country where they have permission to reside.In a statement, the authorities said Malta will continue to honour its obligations in this sector while ensuring full respect for the country’s laws.•
