Police Seize Suspected Heroin Worth €13,000 And Arrest Two People

Two people have been arrested after police seized around 100 grams of suspected heroin with an estimated street value of nearly €13,000.The arrests followed a surveillance operation targeting a 49-year-old man from Għaxaq who was allegedly suspected of involvement in drug trafficking activities.Over several days, police monitored the suspect and observed what they described as suspicious movements, particularly in the area of Farruġ.The operation culminated yesterday morning when officers stopped the man while he was driving a Range Rover.A search led to the discovery of one block of a substance suspected to be heroin. Further searches in the vicinity uncovered two additional blocks concealed within a nearby wall.Police then carried out searches at the man’s residence in Għaxaq and at the home of a 29-year-old woman in Tarxien.During the searches, officers seized several items allegedly linked to drug trafficking, multiple mobile phones and a considerable amount of cash.Magistrate Monica Borg Galea was informed of the case and appointed an inquiry.The 49-year-old man is expected to be arraigned in court this morning before Magistrate Lara Lanfranco.Police investigations remain ongoing.•
