Trump meloniItalian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni lashed out at Trump on social media this morning, blasting the President for snubbing her in an interview. This comes after Trump reportedly told an Italian news outlet that Meloni “begged” him for a photo. The channel did not air an English version of the interview, instead airing a dubbed version.Reuters reported,Video from the event in France showed Meloni and Trump deep in conversation, sitting side-by-side on a small sofa, but the U.S. leader suggested he had merely been indulging her.“She’s probably happy I talked to her. I didn’t have to talk to her,” Trump was quoted as saying by La7 TV channel in a brief interview, after he himself asked the journalist about Italy’s prime minister.“She begged me to take a picture with her. She wanted a picture with me so badly. I wouldn’t have taken it, but I felt sorry for her,” Trump said, according to La7’s translation.A European diplomatic source said Meloni was one of the most forceful voices at the G7, openly challenging Trump on several points. The source said she firmly defended Europe’s stance, telling Trump he should stop saying he had been abandoned by Western allies, stressing that they had been supportive.Meloni responded this morning with a video statement, attacking Trump for his behavior and treatment of allies, while claiming he cozies up to enemies.“Certain things deserve an immediate response,” she said. “Donald Trump’s statements are totally made up and completely invented. I am frankly astonished.”Meloni continued, “I don’t know why the President of the United States behaves this way with his allies — and it’s not the first time.”“I can only say that it’s a shame he doesn’t show the same resolve toward the enemies of the West and the enemies of the United States, toward which he is instead much more accommodating,” she said. “But one thing he should remember: Neither I nor Italy ever beg.”Meloni shared the clip on X, writing, “Neither I nor Italy ever beg.”WATCH:!function(r,u,m,b,l,e){r._Rumble=b,r[b]||(r[b]=function(){(r[b]._=r[b]._||[]).push(arguments);if(r[b]._.length==1){l=u.createElement(m),e=u.getElementsByTagName(m)[0],l.async=1,l.src="https://rumble.com/embedJS/u2vbt6g"+(arguments[1].video?'.'+arguments[1].video:'')+"/?url="+encodeURIComponent(location.href)+"&args="+encodeURIComponent(JSON.stringify([].slice.apply(arguments))),e.parentNode.insertBefore(l,e)}})}(window, document, "script", "Rumble");Rumble("play", {"video":"v79ct66","div":"rumble_v79ct66"});Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Natonio Tajani described Trump’s comments as “serious and offensive” and canceled a trip to the US because of them.He further said he will cancel a planned trip to the United States because ofLe gravi e offensive parole del Presidente Trump nei confronti del Presidente del Consiglio Giorgia Meloni offendono tutta l’Italia.
