Summary: People said all the same things we did here, that they're living in a dream world, that even keeping the car in reliable shape isn't covered by what they are offering, that what they're asking would mean someone would have to be on call and so couldn't possibly work anywhere else, etc. The person responded only that they are "desperate" and seeking a solution "with dignity". Apparently that means dignity only for themselves, not for the person whose life will have to revolve around theirs for mere pennies.
