At the I/O conference on May 19th, Google announced some big changes to the way its users use Google Search. The new “Intelligent Search Box” may seem exciting, but this push for AI-powered search does have negative consequences for you and for the people and companies that have worked hard and are reliant on Google Search to run their businesses. This advance for users to interact with and use AI-search is benefiting the tech giant behind it – Google – but killing the open web and will only increase Google’s monopolistic power.
