Private bank manager, staff booked over ₹12 lakh fraud loan - The HinduPublished - June 20, 2026 07:34 pm IST - BengaluruThe manager of a private bank and its employees have been booked by the Madiwala police following a complaint by a 45-year-old businessman who alleged that a ₹12 lakh loan was fraudulently obtained in his name using forged documents.The complainant, Muniraju J., a resident of Bengaluru, stated that he approached the bank’s BTM Layout branch in January 2025 seeking an education loan for his daughter. During the loan verification process, the bank officials allegedly informed him that a loan worth ₹12 lakh had already been sanctioned in his name through a credit card-linked account and that dues of ₹1,09,291 were pending.Shocked by the disclosure, Muniraju sought details of the borrower and the documents used to obtain the loan. He alleged that unidentified persons had misused his Aadhaar and PAN card details to secure the loan without his knowledge or consent.According to the complaint, despite repeated requests and a legal notice issued through his advocate on April 28, 2025, the bank management failed to furnish complete information regarding the borrower or the transaction. Muniraju further alleged that the loan could not have been sanctioned without lapses or collusion by the bank officials and accused them of withholding crucial information.Based on the complaint, the Madiwala police have registered a case against the bank manager and other employees on charges related to cheating, forgery, identity theft, criminal breach of trust and conspiracy.The police have launched an investigation to ascertain how the loan was processed using forged documents and whether any bank officials were involved in facilitating the alleged fraud.
