The European Commission has launched a public consultation on the EU Youth Strategy beyond 2027, inviting youths, stakeholders and policymakers to help shape the future of European youth policy. The initiative aims to build on the current framework while responding to emerging challenges which youths are facing across Europe. The consultation is part of the European Commission’s ‘Have Your Say’ platform and will gather input on priorities, policy tools and cooperation mechanisms related to youth policy for the coming years. Key themes include youth participation in democratic life, social inclusion, mental health, education and employment, as well as the role of youth policy in broader societal transitions such as digitalisation and sustainability. The current EU Youth Strategy (2019–2027) focuses on three core areas: Engage, Connect and Empower. It provides a framework for cooperation between EU Member States and is supported by tools such as the EU Youth Dialogue, a participatory platform that connects young people with EU decision-makers and the Youth Wiki, an online platform offering comprehensive information on national youth policies across Europe. With the next strategy period approaching, the Commission is seeking to evaluate what has worked well and where improvements are needed. Contributions from youths themselves are considered essential to ensure that the strategy reflects their needs and aspirations in a rapidly changing world.Maltese youths, youth workers, organisations, researchers, public authorities and stakeholders are encouraged to take part and share the consultation within their networks before the deadline. The consultation is available through the European Commission’s “Have Your Say” platform and remains open until July 16, 2026 at midnight. For more information on the rights of EU citizens, the latest EU policy developments and public consultations, as well as upcoming events and opportunities, visit Servizzi Ewropej f’Malta’s website at sem.gov.mt or contact them on info.sem@gov.mt or 2779 7300.
