normalnormalnormalTaking stern note of the continuous administrative apathy in the Voin Poin Dalit arson case, the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC), New Delhi, has issued a strict ‘Third Reminder’ to the Tarn Taran District Police Chief, demanding a comprehensive action-taken report within seven days. The fresh ultimatum comes after the police brazenly ignored three previous notices issued on April 20, May 7, and June 8, 2026.Spearheading the legal battle for the victimized Dalit family, former MLA Ravinder Singh Brahmpura expressed grave concern over the systemic breakdown of law. In a press statement issued today, Brahmpura stated that the administration’s failure to respond to four consecutive NCSC directives is clear proof that the erring officials have no legal or logical justification to defend this blatant atrocity.Cautioning the bureaucracy against undue political interference, Brahmpura highlighted that a newly elected local representative, blinded by power and personal vested interests, is severely pressuring the administration to derail justice.“I strongly urge the police and civil administration to discharge their duties strictly on merit. Officials must not take illegal steps under the pressure of any local politician. Ultimately, it is the bureaucrats—not the politicians—who will face accountability before constitutional bodies,” Brahmpura asserted.Exposing the civil administration’s parallel failure, Brahmpura pointed out that the District Magistrate (DC) has yet to disburse the mandatory statutory compensation to the victim family under the SC/ST Act, terming it a gross violation of human rights. He reiterated his family’s unwavering commitment to acting as a shield for the marginalized.Citing the Constitution, Brahmpura reminded the erring officials that the NCSC possesses the vast powers of a Civil Court under Article 338(8). He warned that if an impartial report is not submitted within the fresh 7-day deadline, the Commission is fully empowered to summon the officials in person to New Delhi and initiate strict punitive action.
