Subrahmanyam passed away on Monday afternoon following cardiac arrest in Hyderabad.Sixty-five year old Subrahmanyam complained of chest pain after having lunch and was rushed to a local hospital in Malkajgiri. While undergoing treatment, he suffered heart attack and breathed his last, according to family members. He is survived by daughter Meenakshi, while wife Krishnaveni and only son Harish, pre-deceased him.Late Subrahmanyam worked in Newstime before joining The Hindu in 1994. He had a very long stint in Kadapa district before being transferred to Kurnool in 2018. He retired in 2021 from Kadapa and relocated to Hyderabad.In his more than three decades of journalistic career Mr. Subrahmanyam forged a very good rapport with politicians from Kadapa district particularly former Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy and other top Congress leaders. After moving to Kurnool also, he maintained the same relations with politicians as well as the bureaucrats.He was active in the journalists union activities having served as the president of the Kadapa unit of the Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists.
