All crews have been ordered off the roof and out of the building’s interior. pic.twitter.com/5oXUhSQnOt— Matthew Seedorff (@MattSeedorff) June 17, 2026KTLA reported:Firefighters are battling an explosive fire that broke out at a large cold storage facility in Boyle Heights on Wednesday afternoon, prompting a shelter-in-place in the area due to heavy smoke.It’s possible that this fire could turn into a hazardous materials situation, according to Sky5’s Gil Leyvas, who is over the scene, so residents in the area are urged to take precautions.The shelter-in-place was issued for areas east of Genasys LFD Zone 1279 — which is in the area between South Soto Street to Indiana Street and from the 10 Freeway to Washington Boulevard, according to officials.The fire was first reported at 2:35 p.m. at the Lineage facility in the 1400 block of S Los Palos Street and quickly escalated.First arriving units reported that fire was showing from the roof of the massive single-story building, which they estimated was about 1,000 feet x 500 feet.Firefighters who were operating in offensive mode on the roof were told to immediately evacuate as the situation got more dangerous.
