Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on another experienced West Ham United star following the Hammers’ relegation from the Premier League.Spurs managed to stay up at the expense of West Ham, and the Lilywhites could now hand their London rivals further blows by poaching some of their best players.Spurs are plotting a move to poach Hammers captain Jarrod Bowen, who faces a big decision on his future after the club’s relegation. Some outlets have claimed that Tottenham have also explored a deal for Crysencio Summerville, who is expected to leave the London Stadium this summer.Photo by Richard Pelham/Getty ImagesTottenham launch enquiry for West Ham’s Mateus FernandesSpurs are expected to miss out on Bowen, who West Ham reportedly want to keep despite their relegation to the second tier.Over recent days, it has been reported that Tottenham are also set to fail in their pursuit of Summerville, but it has now emerged that the Lilywhites have turned their attention to another West Ham star.Journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed on The Last Word on Spurs that Roberto De Zerbi’s men are exploring a move for Mateus Fernandes. The journalist says the North London club have now launched an enquiry for the Portuguese midfielder, who arrived at East London from Southampton last summer.Despite this, Fernandes looks more likely to join either Man United or PSG, and has a summer price tag of around £80m – far beyond Tottenham’s all-time transfer record.Jacobs said: “Tottenham made an enquiry for Mateus Fernandes, even though the direction of travel there is Manchester United or PSG. Real Madrid could even enter that race, but he was another player that they looked at.“It’s funny because Tottenham and West Ham don’t do that much business ever. And yet we might get a flurry now because of reports of which I made one of them that Crysencio Summerville and Tottenham were a legitimate link even though West Ham tried to deny it at the time.”Spurs are not the front-runners to land FernandesThe 21-year-old has not had an easy start to life in England, having suffered back-to-back relegations with Southampton and West Ham over the last two seasons. However, there is no doubt about the former Sporting Lisbon man’s ability, which is why he is on the radar of some of the biggest clubs in the world. In fact, according to a report in TEAMtalk, Man United are confident of winning the race for Fernandes, who is also of interest to Real Madrid. It thus appears as if Tottenham would require a major effort to win the race for the midfielder.READ MORE: Fabrizio Romano says Tottenham are set to do ‘something important’ in key positionThe post Tottenham show interest in third West Ham star after Bowen and Summerville, but it looks unlikely appeared first on Spurs Web.
