/u/Xenoanthropus on I put some free stuff on the curb and this is what happened.

Wait 5 sec.

The real tactic, depending on where you live, is just to not post it anywhere and put it out the day before trash/recycle pickup. In my area there are definitely trash hunters/scrappers who go around looking for good stuff/scrap metal who will just take it. I have never had to recycle or trash a single piece of recyclable metal or furniture, I just put it outside and it disappears within the day. And I've gotten good stuff this way too so I know the incentive is there -- I've gotten an electric miter saw, electric chainsaw, a lawnmower that needed a little maintenance, and a nice vacuum cleaner that was just clogged with pet hair. Alternatively, you just put it all outside with a sign that says "$5 for everything, ask at the door" (or a venmo qr etc) and some enterprising person will just take it all because they think they're pulling one over on you. Years ago, a friend of mine was replacing an old CRT tv with a nice new LED flat-screen and we put the old one out on the curb (in west philadelphia) and it sat there for 2 days. After that, he put a sign on it that just said "$10, works, cash in mail slot please" and it was gone in 30 minutes. People are strange.
