Satheesan has said that June 15 will be a significant day in Kerala’s history with the State-level inauguration of the Priyadarshini scheme, which offers free travel for women and transgender persons in Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses across the State. The Chief Minister said that, along with making KSRTC more people-friendly, the scheme would mark the beginning of a major transformation.The district-level inauguration of the scheme will be held at 9 a.m. at the Ernakulam Boat Jetty Bus Stand. The event will be inaugurated by MP Hibi Eden.Mr. Satheesan also said that KSRTC would be steered forward in a professional manner based on proper studies. He was speaking after flagging off four newly allotted KSRTC buses on the Aluva-Paravur route.Considering the numerous complaints raised by the public, the government decided to urgently deploy new buses on the route. If the trial run of the new services proves successful, more buses will be allotted. Two ordinary buses and two town-to-town buses have commenced operations on the route.The government’s focus is on maintaining the public transport system in the best possible manner. He also stated that a major transformation would be visible in KSRTC within the next six months.The function, held at the KSRTC bus stand in Paravur, was attended by Municipal Chairperson Ramesh D. Kurup, North Paravur Assistant Transport Officer A.
