The kit reveal is bringing Tottenham back to its roots by putting the N17 postcode front and centre and celebrating the area and its community. But besides Tottenham’s legendary figures and hotspots, is there anything we can surmise about Spurs’ transfer intentions?1. Tottenham want to reconnect with the fans this summerCould it be that a sense of gratitude is driving the direction of Tottenham Hotspur’s promotional material?Probably unlikely, but even still, the club are at least acknowledging both the community and the area that rallied behind the club, standing on the brink of relegation. The iconic Tottenham pub, The Antwerp Arms, is amongst the backdrops for the promotional video, which also showcases local music groups and community figures while celebrating Tottenham’s rich cultural heritage, all the backing track of Tottenham-based musician Nippa. One way to make sure that the rift between fans and players doesn’t open again is to make sure that Tottenham Hotspur are successful on the pitch, playing the Tottenham Way, but it is also good to see the club trying to acknowledge those who truly make it great.Credit: Tottenham Hotspur2. Micky van de Ven at the centre of Tottenham promoDespite a tumultuous season filled with rumours of the centre-back’s growing discontent at the club, it looks like the relationship between Micky van de Ven and Tottenham is back on the straight and narrow. The Netherlands international features heavily in the promotional video, which could be a sign confirming the rumours that van de Ven is a much happier figure since Roberto De Zerbi took charge. As was revealed in Jan Paul van Hecke’s announcement, Micky played no small part in promoting the North London club to our new Dutch centre-back. With Pedro Porro signing a recent contract extension, Micky van de Ven could the next senior Spurs player to re-sign for Spurs.3. Mathys Tel also in a leading role amidst future uncertaintyMathys Tel is one of the few figures at Spurs who can look back at the 25/26 season with their head held high. Despite being distrusted by Thomas Frank, Tel featured prominently in the closing stages of the season for Roberto De Zerbi as the only fit left-wing player. His contributions were crucial in keeping Spurs up, and even though his inexperience was sometimes exposed, Tel truly showcased the heaps and bounds of potential at his disposal. Although Mathys Tel was looking for gametime guarantees for Spurs, it has been recently rumoured that Roberto De Zerbi personally informed Mathys Tel that he’ll have a part in his plans, and Tel’s role in the promotional video could indicate he’ll be featuring for Tottenham next season.Credit: Tottenham Hotspur4. James Maddison and the other players featured by TottenhamJames Maddison, Connor Gallagher, Archie Gray, Kevin Danso, Dominic Solanke, Destiny Udogie are the remaining men’s players who featured in the kit reveal. Players like Solanke, Udogie, and especially James Maddison, all had to endure a season speckled with serious setbacks and interruptions. But hopefully their inclusion in the material means they are all ready to kick on and play a big part in Spurs’ upcoming season. After their best-ever finish in the WSL, the stars of Tottenham’s women’s side have also featured in the video, including Cathinka Tandberg, Olivia Holdt, Signe Gaupset and Toko Koga.5. Cristian Romero and other notable faces absent from kit launchThe captain of Tottenham Hotspur is one of the big figures missing from the promotional video, which, given the rumours surrounding his future at Tottenham, could give us some reason for speculation. There is a feeling that it might be best for Romero and Tottenham to part ways this summer, and the incomings of Jan Paul van Hecke and Marcos Senesi as centre-back reinforcements seem to support those rumours.Pedro Porro is also amongst the missing faces, although his new contract makes any speculation about his future redundant. But last season’s player of the year, Lucas Bergvall, who hasn’t featured prominently for Roberto De Zerbi, has also been absent, which is also the case for Pape Matar Sarr, Rodrigo Bentancur, or vice-captain Guglielmo Vicario; all established first-team players. This is not to say that their absence from the promotional video can in any way be taken as an indication of their futures with or away from the club. All of those players could still potentially feature in Tottenham’s usually separate promotional material for their third kit.And it is not like the inverse can be seen as any verdict on a player’s future either… Notably, despite leaving in the same transfer windows the promotional video appeared in, Tottenham legend Son Heung Min featured in the video for the 2025/2026 away kit, while Harry Kane was also among the featured players in the 2023/2024 home kit reveal video.READ MORE: What £100m Sandro Tonali would bring to Tottenham and why De Zerbi is desperate to sign himThe post Five transfer hints we learned from Tottenham’s 2026/27 kit announcement appeared first on Spurs Web.
