Quaylin Wesley/LinkedInAnother disturbing case involving a trusted adult accused of preying on a child has emerged in California.A 27-year-old camp counselor and graduate of University of California, Berkeley has been arrested after allegedly sexually assaulting an 11-year-old camper staying overnight in a campus residence hall.Quaylin Wesley, a Vallejo man who has worked with youth organizations and schools in the Bay Area, was taken into custody Saturday following an investigation by the University of California Police Department.Authorities say the victim was an 11-year-old camper participating in a summer program that was not operated by the university.Investigators allege Wesley fondled the child while she pretended to be asleep during an overnight stay in a campus dormitory.More from New York Post:The suspect fled the room when one of the girl’s roommates rolled over in bed, but allegedly returned multiple times and attempted to assault her again. The child eventually tried to wake her roommates, ran into a bathroom and alerted another camp counselor, according to the report.UC Berkeley declined to identify the camp or its location, citing the victim’s age and the ongoing investigation.University police first received a report around 1:15 a.m. of an attempted sexual assault inside a residence hall, according to a WarnMe emergency notification. The incident was formally reported to officers at about 2 a.m.The case was initially reported as an attempted sexual assault, but police later determined that a completed sexual assault had occurred, according to SFGATE.A campus safety alert sent through Berkeley’s WarnMe emergency notification system acknowledged the change in the investigation’s findings:“The incident was initially reported to UCPD as an attempted sexual assault in a residence hall. Through subsequent investigation, UCPD determined that the incident was a completed sexual assault, rather than an attempted one.”He was booked into Alameda County Jail, where bail was reportedly set at $425,000.The Alameda County District Attorney charged Wesley with eight felonies, including first-degree burglary, committing a lewd act on a child under 14, and sodomy involving a person under 18.He made his first court appearance, did not enter a plea, and currently has no attorney due to a conflict with the public defender’s office. The post UC Berkeley Camp Counselor Arrested After Allegedly Sexually Assaulting 11-Year-Old Camper in Dorm appeared first on The Gateway Pundit.
