A federal appeals court on Tuesday temporarily paused a lower court’s ruling against President Trump’s 10% global tariffs. The Federal Trade Court on Thursday struck down President Trump’s backup tariff plan after the Supreme Court blocked his other tariffs.The US Supreme Court recently struck down President Trump’s tariffs in a 6-3 decision.The Supreme Court said President Trump does not have the authority to impose the tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).The high court’s decision only invalidated Trump’s tariffs under the IEEPA.President Trump imposed a 10% global tariff as a backup plan.A small business filed a lawsuit in the international trade court challenging President Trump’s global tariff.On Tuesday, the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit paused the lower court’s ruling while the panel has time to consider the legal arguments.ABC News reported:A federal appeals court on Tuesday temporarily paused a lower court order that declared President Donald Trump’s global 10% tariffs are unlawful. In an unsigned decision, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit issued an administrative stay of last week’s decision from the Court of International Trade. The move, effectively a brief legal time-out, will allow an appeals court panel time to consider equities on both sides of the dispute before considering whether or not to invalidate the tariffs while litigation continues.
