Texas Jan. 6 rioter freed by Trump who insists he’s ‘completely changed’ charged with deadly conduct after threatening churchgoer with gun

Wait 5 sec.

As anyone with a functioning brain cell could have predicted, Donald Trump’s decision to free hundreds of violent Jan. 6 rioters blew up in his face. What did he think would happen if you let a give these lunatics a pat on the head for giving in to their worst and most violent impulses? Since Trump flung open the prison gates, an unusually large number of the people he set free have since been charged with sexual crimes involving children. So it’s with the slimmest of silver linings that we can report that the latest Jan. 6 rioter still presenting a danger to the public is only threatening… adults! Yay! Enter 36-year-old Ryan Nichols, who on Jan 6 brought weapons to the U.S. Capitol and assaulted members of the Capitol police, who has just been arrested for terrorizing a man (who was apparently clutching a Bible) with a firearm. On Jan. 6, Nichols was recorded yelling: A sampling of Jan. 6 defendant Ryan Nichols’ political discourse: pic.twitter.com/ES8Gws5f9u— Ryan J. Reilly (@ryanjreilly) February 4, 2022 “This is the second f–king revolution! And we’re f–king done! I’m telling you right now Ryan Nichols said it, if you voted for f–king treason we’re going to drag your f–king ass through the streets.” Later in the evening, he underlined: At one point, prosecutors allege, Nichols uses OC spray against officers guarding the Capitol tunnelhttps://t.co/TKGtFNPZLj— Tom Dreisbach (@TomDreisbach) February 5, 2022 “So if you want to know where Ryan Nichols stands, Ryan Nichols stands for violence.” Yes, Mr Nichols, we get it, you’re violent and extremely dangerous. No need to belabor the point…. In 2023, Nichols pleaded guilty to a felony count of obstruction of an official proceeding and a felony count of assaulting officers performing their duties. He remorsefully explained that this was a “bad choice” he was “very sorry for” and that he’s “completely changed”. Since his release, Nichols has tried to paint himself as reformed and in 2025 even launched a failed bid to run for Congress. On Jan. 6 of this year, he underlined that it’s vital that you “think through every decision” you make. Sounds like he still stands for violence! So here’s hoping he carefully thought through his decision on May 10 2026 to threaten a man with a gun in a church parking lot. The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office explained on Facebook that they responded to an incident at the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Harleton, Texas earlier this week, where a furious Nichols was arrested for “deadly conduct”: “Deputies learned that Ryan Nichols confronted a subject in the parking lot of the church and whenever the subject attempted to leave and de-escalate the situation Nichols continued to confront him. The victim stated that they turned away from Nichols and attempted to usher his family towards their vehicle while asking Nichols to go to his own vehicle and leave. Nichols continued to try and confront the victim who had then turned towards him. After facing Nichols, the victim advised that Nichols raised his shirt up to display a firearm and placed his hand upon grip of the firearm. The victim advised that he was in fear for his life due to this action.” Why, these certainly don’t sound like the actions of a man who’s “completely changed” at all! They also don’t really feel like something a person who says they “think through every decision” does! Nichols already had an existing warrant out for his arrest for harassment and is now staring down an additional charge for deadly conduct. But hey, compared to the other Jan 6ers, this guy is a shining example, at least there’s no kids involved!
