ESPN CollegeDay is giving fans a double dose of SEC action to begin the 2026 season. The popular show dropped the first two locations the crew will be visiting and viewers were largely unimpressed.Lane Kiffin’s Tigers debut will be in the national spotlightGettyFirst up for Pat McAfee & Co. on September 5 is Clemson’s trip to Baton Rouge to take on LSU.It was an obvious choice given Lane Kiffin is taking charge of his first game since walking out on Ole Miss before the College Football Playoff in favor of the Tigers, taking some of his staff with him.Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit are on the call for ABC and the game is expected to be moved into a nighttime slot.GameDay will be celebrating 500 shows on the road at LSU with ESPN planning to celebrate the occasion.“Opening ‘College GameDay’s’ 40th season with our 500th show on the road is one of the moments that helps to put the history of ‘College GameDay’ into perspective,” said Matt Garrett, ESPN’s vice president of production. “The show has evolved over four decades, but our reason for going on the road hasn’t changed — to share with fans across the country the unparalleled passion and incredible atmospheres that make college football unlike anything else. “And to start this season with two marquee matchups, we’ll be able to set the tone for another unforgettable fall.”In Week 2, Ohio State travels to Auston, Texas, after beating Arch Manning‘s Longhorns on opening day in 2025.GameDay was also at that showdown and Manning will be desperate for a better display after going just 17-of-30 for 170 yards and a pick in a 14-7 loss.Fans saw the SEC love-in coming and took to social media to vent their frustrations.Pat McAfee has brought bigger audiences but not everybody is a fan of his bombastic styleGettyManning is likely heading for the NFL in 2027Getty“Daring and brave of you to pick two SEC campuses,” joked one.“Now they’ll over rank both of these teams preseason,” added a second.“Just for LSU to massacre them again? What a bad decision,” a third wrote.Another chose a different angle, posting: “FFS can you guys please get rid of McAfee already!”Not everybody was disappointed, however, and Week 1 in particular had its advocates. “Week 1. Death Valley. Two top 10 teams. That is how you start a season,” suggested one viewer.NFL's Greatest......Ranking the top 10......Quarterbacks of all-time – Can anyone better Tom Brady?Wide receivers of all-time – Does Randy Moss or Jerry Rice come out on top?Running backs of all-time – Stacking Jim Brown, Barry Sanders, Walter Payton, Emmitt Smith and moreTight ends of all-time – How does Travis Kelce compare?Lane Kiffin reignites Ole Miss feudKiffin’s LSU debut is set to be a blockbuster after his controversial exit.He has further annoyed Rebels fans after suggesting that black players are more likely to want to move to LSU.“‘Hey, coach, we really like you. But my grandparents aren’t letting me move to Oxford, Mississippi,’” Kiffin told Vanity Fair. “That doesn’t come up when you say Baton Rouge, Louisiana.“Parents were sitting here this weekend saying the campus’ diversity feels so great, ‘It feels like there’s no segregation. And we want that for our kid because that’s the real world.'”Rebels alum Jerrell Powe led the response.“Lane had no problem selling Oxford to black athletes while stacking classes & winning games, and cashing a $90M contract off our backs,” he said on X. “Now Mississippi “too racist”? Man please. He used black players to build himself up, then dipped in a playoff run.
