Two Polish brothers residing in Germany, David Adrian Lelonek and Arthur Martin Lelonek, appeared before Magistrate Ingrid Bianco after videos of reckless driving in Malta were widely shared on social media. Both admitted to the charges brought against them according to Times of Malta. David, the older brother, faced the more serious accusations as the driver of the vehicle. These included driving on the wrong side of the road, exceeding the speed limit, ignoring no-entry signs, carrying out illegal U-turns as well as driving without third-party insurance.Both brothers were also charged under a recently introduced law criminalising the posting of footage showing reckless driving on social media.The court granted them bail against a €5,000 deposit each and a €30,000 personal guarantee. Conditions include a prohibition on leaving Malta, daily sign-in at the bail book, and a curfew.They were also barred from operating any vehicle, including bicycles. The next hearing is scheduled for 17th July.The case was heard by Magistrate Ingrid Bianco. The prosecution was led by Inspectors Nathan Bugeja and Clive Abela.
