Welcome to Wakura Pokémon Footbath, where Gyarados will spit all over your feet for you.A newly-renovated footbath facility in Japan's Nanao, Ishikawa Prefecture is filled with Pokémon scenery, including a footbath themed all around Magikarp's final form and a water cannon that will spray your toes while you relax.Photo via PashPlus.jpThis is all according to Japanese website PASH! Plus, which was on-hand to report that a dedication ceremony was held today to mark the facility's opening, and it's now free for all to enjoy."Local nursery school children also participated in the ceremony and experienced the newly completed footbath," the report said via translation. "The sight of them enjoying themselves, swaying their little feet in the warm water surrounded by Pokémon, truly illuminated a bright future for the community."Other Pokémon can be seen in the footbath as well, including Poliwag, Politoed, Quaxly, Vaporeon, Psyduck, and questionably, Pikachu. I'm not sure why the popular mascot needs to be in this water facility where one thundershock could spell disaster, but hey, who am I to judge?Japan is definitely a bucket list trip for myself, and has been for some time. I'm not sure if I will mark this specific spot on my travel itinerary when that day ever comes, but I do think it's cool to see just how big Pokémon's hold on Japan really is. Earlier this year, an official Pokémon theme park opened in Tokyo's Yomiuri Land, but that one feels way more whimsical than a footbath. Still, you can't really go wrong with Gyarados if you have some sweaty feet and need a quick refresh. Photo via PashPlus.jpFootbaths are a staple in Japanese culture, so having Pokémon along for the ride just feels right. And outside of Pikachu, the Water types on display make for a fun and easy-going atmosphere that the relaxation-centric location is looking to create. Maybe I will check it out after all.The post You can now get your feet cleaned by one of Pokémon’s most beloved Water types appeared first on Destructoid.
