Intelligence estimates suggest Iran has likely restored access to 30 of its 33 missile sites on the Strait of Hormuz, and retains 70% of its missiles and mobile missile launchers.By World Israel News StaffUS intelligence agencies have concluded that Iran has regained access to most of its missile infrastructure, undercutting the Trump administration’s public claims that the country’s military was left shattered by the recent US-Israeli campaign, The New York Times reported on Tuesday.Classified assessments from early May show Iran has restored operational access to 30 of 33 missile sites along the Strait of Hormuz, where US warships and oil tankers remain exposed to potential attack, according to the report.Iran also retains about 70% of its mobile launchers and roughly 70% of its prewar missile stockpile. The assessments say about 90% of Iran’s underground missile storage and launch facilities are now “partially or fully operational,” despite heavy damage from Operation Epic Fury. The findings contrast sharply with statements from President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.Trump said March 9 that Iran’s “missiles are down to a scatter” and that the country had “nothing left in a military sense.” Hegseth said April 8 that the campaign had “decimated Iran’s military and rendered it combat-ineffective for years to come.”White House spokeswoman Olivia Wales rejected the assessment, saying Iran’s military had been “crushed” and that anyone who “thinks Iran has reconstituted its military is either delusional or a mouthpiece” for the IRGC.Acting Pentagon press secretary Joel Valdez accused news outlets of aiding Tehran. “It is so disgraceful that The New York Times and others are acting as public relations agents for the Iranian regime in order to paint Operation Epic Fury as anything other than a historic accomplishment,” he said. The report comes as US officials defend the state of American munitions stockpiles after months of war. Gen. Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told lawmakers Tuesday, “We have sufficient munitions for what we’re tasked to do right now.”US Central Command said Sunday that more than 20 American warships are enforcing the blockade against Iran, with dozens of commercial vessels redirected.Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said the military remains prepared. “We have executed multiple successful operations across combatant commands while ensuring the U.S. military possesses a deep arsenal of capabilities to protect our people and our interests,” he said. The post Iran repairing missile sites, retains 70% of its stockpile – report appeared first on World Israel News.
