PN leader Alex Borg says he is in favour of Maltese citizens living abroad being allowed to vote through embassies instead of having to travel back to Malta for elections.Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, as reported by The Malta Independent, Borg said the issue should be discussed at the start of the next legislature following this month’s general election.Currently, Maltese citizens living overseas must physically return to Malta if they want to cast their vote.Borg argued that this creates difficulties, particularly for Maltese living in other European countries, where travel costs and flight connectivity can become major obstacles.“They have the right to vote, but connectivity is an obstacle,” Borg said.He also pointed out that several countries already allow overseas voting through embassies or consulates, while foreign nationals living in Malta can often vote through their own embassies locally.During the same press conference, Borg also spoke about outgoing PN MPs who are not contesting the election, insisting many are still contributing behind the scenes and helping shape the party’s proposals.Should Maltese abroad be allowed to vote remotely?•
