Emma Raducanu’s return to the court has been confirmed as she will compete at the Internationaux de Strasbourg next week. The British No.1 has struggled with illness over the last two months, not playing at an event since Indian Wells in March.Raducanu is going to make her first appearance since March next weekGettyShe has suffered from a post-viral infection that has seen her withdraw from multiple tournaments. Most recently, Raducanu pulled out of the Italian Open just 30 minutes after speaking to the media there. That raised concerns that she would potentially miss the French Open at Roland-Garros, with the Grand Slam starting on May 24.But the 23-year-old now appears to have returned to full fitness after her health issues, receiving a wildcard in Strasbourg. The tournament announced on Wednesday: “Welcome back, Emma! “The 2021 US Open champion will be back on the clay courts at Strasbourg Tennis Club.”Raducanu will likely return to action on May 17 when the Internationaux de Strasbourg officially gets started. It will run from that date through to May 23, which is just a day before the first round of the French Open.Appearing on the clay before Roland-Garros is sure to provide Raducanu a huge boost heading into the major event. No matter what happens though, she won’t be claiming a seeded position as she is set to drop out of the WTA’s top 30. The British No.1 has received a wildcard for the event in StrasbourgGetty‘I feel so much better’Raducanu’s return comes after she admitted she still wasn’t ‘100 per cent’, but that her recovery had gone well. She said: “Post-viral, it’s quite hard. You feel drained, you feel tired, no energy. It’s difficult, and it lingered for quite a while.“Right now, I wouldn’t say I’m 100 per cent. I’m still building my way back. It is difficult to then kind of maintain it.”“I think I’ve really turned a corner and I feel so much better. I feel great on the court,” the Brit added. Before her illness, Raducanu had won seven of her 14 matches in 2026, with four of those coming at the Transylvania Open. A strong performance in Strasbourg on her comeback would buoy her heading into the French Open and Wimbledon.Roland-Garros comes up first before she will hope to be among the tennis stars that will head to SW19 in late June.
