/u/CaptainEmmy on Perfect for after Mother’s Day. 🙄 Help an entire family of unemployed adults pay for their mom’s recovery after she slipped and broke her neck. She was the “breadwinner” at 80 and no one works so help out to get her back to work for her

Wait 5 sec.

I know several people on SSDI who still work ( on the part-time basis that doesn't cancel their disability income, of course) at things they can actually do because, well, it feels mentally better to them. I don't think anyone goes "yippy, I got disability, I'll never have to work again!". They might feel gratitude for the support that they need, sure, but it has to suck to have so much ripped away with an SSDI check as your consolation prize. I'm glad you were able to make sure you had a reasonable life before life turned sideways, but man, no fun. I assume you'd rather take the health.
