Prime Minister Robert Abela announced a number of new proposals related to Malta’s feasts organisations and voluntary sector should the Labour Party be elected in the upcoming general election. He said that a Labour government has made a concrete investment in Maltese feasts, spending €30 million that saved fifteen band clubs from eviction. He pledged for this support to continue in the coming years, should Labour be elected, so that income generated from these clubs is used to assist other major projects carried out by musical societies. Abela said that should Labour be re-elected, support will be given to the Band Clubs Association for renovation and maintenance works on its building in Floriana in the next legislature. The premises would also be equipped to support the administrative work of the association.Acknowledging the processes required for festa organisations to continue fulfilling their important role in strengthening Maltese identity, the Labour party proposed for permit issuance will be simplified and duplicate procedures related to social activities, festa events and fireworks displays will be eliminated. The proposals also include reforms aimed at strengthening the legal framework surrounding voluntary organisations by introducing different categories of voluntary groups, simplifying reporting obligations and offering more tailored support depending on each organisation’s needs. What do you make of this proposal?•
